THE ORDINARY REVIEW: GLYCOLIC ACID 7% TONING SOLUTION

GLYCOLIC ACID 7% TONING SOLUTION-  THE ORDINARY

๐Ÿ”นIf you are into skincare, you have probably heard of the ordinary. A pocket-friendly brand with minimal packaging and specialize in single ingredient-driven products that delivers targeted results.

๐Ÿ”นThe low cost and super effective products were something I always looked, so I got myself some products from this brand.

๐Ÿ”นToday I am going to review Glycolic acid 7%  toning solution from the brand which I picked from Cult beauty and here is my take on it.

 ๐Ÿ”ธPRODUCT DESCRIPTION :

Glycolic acid (an alpha hydroxy acid that exfoliates the skin) this toning solution offers mild exfoliation to boost radiance and visibly restore clarity. Also enhanced with a Tasmanian pepperberry derivative to help reduce the irritation associated with acid use and ginseng and aloe vera to soothe, this is the ideal way to gently refine the texture of your skin.

๐Ÿ”ธCONTRAINDICATIONS:

This formula should not be used on sensitive, peeling or compromised skin. Please refer to additional sun protection note and other warnings in provided

 ๐Ÿ”ธHOW TO USE

Use ideally in the PM, no more frequently than once per day. After cleaning, saturate a cotton pad with the formula and sweep across face and neck. Avoid the eye contour and contact with eyes. Do not rinse off. Continue with additional skin treatments as needed. If persistent irritation occurs, discontinue use and consult a physician. (Sunburn Alert: This product contains an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that may increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn. Use a sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week afterwards. Use only as directed. Contact of the product with the skin must be of limited frequency or duration).

๐Ÿ”นWHAT IS GLYCOLIC ACID?

Glycolic acid is colourless, odourless and smallest form of Alpha-hydroxy acid(AHA). It has the lowest molecular weight which means it can easily penetrate into our skin and be super effective. It is an exfoliant which helps in shedding dead skin cells which is called stratum corneum, and improves the reflection of light on the skin. Glycolic acid can be derived from natural sources, such as sugarcane, sugar beets, pineapple,  cantaloupe and unripe grapes.

๐Ÿ”นPRICE

240ml  For £6.80.

 ๐Ÿ”นPACKAGING

The ordinary glycolic acid 7% toning solution comes in Minimalistic plastic bottle packaging with a screw cap and a nozzle. The nozzle can be twisted to take out the product and then can be closed by twisting it back which I think is brilliant. I really love the packaging as it gives me control on how much product I would like to get out but the bottle is quite big so not travel friendly at all.

the ordinary glycolic acid toner has a pH of 3.6.

 ๐Ÿ”ธTEXTURE AND FEEL

The product is watery and runny in texture. It has no added fragrance and is amber in colour which may vary as they have clearly mentioned.

(“This formula contains a studied Tasmanian Pepperberry derivative to help reduce irritation associated with acid use. This derivative is of plant origin and varies in colour seasonally and this colour variation may be apparent in the formula from time to time.”

 ๐Ÿ”ธMY THOUGHTS:

I have been using this toner twice a week since I have received it two months ago. I just feel like daily usage of exfoliating toner will be too much for my skin. In the beginning, I used to feel a slight tingling sensation for a minute or two after applying the product. Apart from tingling, I did not experience any redness/inflammation/irritation/ peeling. No breakouts or purging whatsoever. The product takes about a minute to dry down and feels like nothing on the face which is good. My skin feels smooth and soft but I don't see any visible reduction in my pigmentation. It has improved my skin texture to an extent and whenever I apply this next morning I notice a radiance to my face which I love so much.

Always apply sunscreen thoroughly next morning, because AHA tends to increase the sensitivity of the skin to the sun.
